Best Mining Pool 2026 PPS vs PPLNS — MinerKuber

Your Pool Choice Has a Real Impact on Daily Earnings

Most new miners spend hours researching which ASIC to buy, then pick a mining pool randomly. This is a mistake. Your pool choice affects daily payout consistency, fees, and long-term earnings — sometimes by 5–15%.

The Three Main Payout Methods

1. PPS — Pay Per Share

PPS pays you a fixed amount for every valid share your miner submits, regardless of whether your pool finds a block. The pool absorbs the variance risk.

  • Pros: Predictable daily income. You know exactly what you’ll earn.
  • Cons: Higher fees (typically 3–4%). You pay for the consistency.
  • Best for: Large operations where cash flow predictability matters.

2. PPLNS — Pay Per Last N Shares

PPLNS pays based on your contribution to the last N shares before each block found. When the pool finds a block, you get a share proportional to your recent contribution.

  • Pros: Lower fees (0–1%). Better average long-term earnings for consistent 24/7 miners.
  • Cons: More variance day to day.
  • Best for: Miners running 24/7 who are comfortable with some variance.

3. SOLO Mining

You mine independently. If your machine finds a block, you get the entire reward. If not, you earn nothing.

  • Pros: Full reward if you find a block. No fees.
  • Cons: Extremely unpredictable. With 1-5 machines, you might wait months or never.
  • Best for: Not recommended for individual ASIC miners in 2026.

Does Pool Size Matter?

Larger pools find blocks more frequently = more consistent payments. Smaller pools find blocks less often but pay more per block. Over time, earnings should theoretically be equal — but very small pools have higher variance and sometimes technical issues.

Pro tip: Check a pool’s historical luck percentage. Above 100% = lucky streak (will normalize). Consistently below 100% = possible technical issues or hidden fees.
